Dealing with Change in the Workplace
As a coach I am very familiar with change in organizations I work with people and teams to:
- Coach on a one to one basis on how to deal with change, how to make changes the person wants and how to maintain change
- Facilitate teams to make sense of change for themselves and as a team
- Mobilise individuals and teams to achieve their work goals, e.g. sales/production/effectiveness/strategy/performance!
- Individual Coaching can be for six to 12 months
- Team Facilitation can be a half day/one day or one day a month over 12 months for maximum effectiveness
In the workplace and our lives today everything is about change. More and more demands are on us to deal effectively with change both on a daily and monthly basis. Change can be about loss of your job, less resources, less budget, less income etc. Why is it that some people do better than others in dealing with change. People at an individual and team level can often resist change because they are fearful of the future, because they do not hear or see enough to feel comfortable or valued. Cultures of resistance in companies spring up and become tougher and more resistance despite constant change being thrust upon them. The upshot is that performance does not improve, morale does not improve there are no winners. To raise levels of engagement, to implement major change needs leadership, communication and understanding.
Leaders in organisations need to:
- Help People making meaning of change; integrate it on a personal level.
- Deal with resistance – bring closure to the negative background conversations in the organisation
- Communicate consistently on what is happening – have a communications strategy
- Treat all employees with respect and Integrity no matter what the circumstances
- Remember the organisational and people agendas
- Have a vision on how to bring the organisation and people with you and to achieve performance goals
